The German passport issued to my mother is stamped with the "J" in bright red for Jew.  She arrived from Berlin, via Lisbon, in New York June 1941 aboard The NYASSA with her twin daughters and her husband.

"AUSCHWITZ was not created by God; man did it. 
The question is not how I can believe in God, [but] how I can believe in man?"
